It is time to start the project!
The City of Athens 2020 Water Improvements project -- which includes replacing water system mains, services, and fire hydrants along Park, Prairieville, and E. Clinton streets -- is set to begin Monday, Sept. 14.
This project is being wholly funded by the Texas Water Development Board, and includes an $825,000 loan and $300,000 in loan forgiveness from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
In addition to the loan forgiveness, the City could save approximately $43,650 over the life of the loan by using the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
There will be various road closures connected with this project, so please follow the City of Athens Facebook page and website for updates.
