A core service of the City of Athens is to provide reliable, high-quality water and sewer service to its residential and commercial properties.
This service begins with the conversion of raw Lake Athens water into clean, drinkable water at the AMWA-owned Water Treatment Plant. The City then ensures that drinking water is distributed to all parts of the City through continual maintenance of our City-wide distribution pipes and water towers. Finally, wastewater is collected and biologically treated at one of two Wastewater Treatment Plants before reentering the environment. Your City Water Staff are highly trained, highly experienced, and licensed by the State of Texas to perform this essential municipal function.
If you suspect a water and/or sewer issue at your residence or business; call City Hall at (903) 675-5131. We offer 24-hour service.
For assistance with their water service accounts, customers may contact Athens City Hall between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, at (903) 675-5131.
